For those of you who do not know me or know the history behind my love of photography and painting I thought I would share a little background information.

I was introduced to photographic processing at the early age of ten or eleven.  While on vacation visiting family in Myrtle Beach, SC, my cousin Tommy showed me his Uncle Truman's darkroom. With the photographic paper lying in the developing solution, I watched captivated as the image appeared before my eyes .  I was impressed with the magic of making an image. To take a picture, develop my own film and then print the photograph was something I wanted to try.

In my 10th grade art class I built a pinhole camera and began taking pictures with it.  A few of these pictures were entered into a science fair where I won an honorable mention.  The local newspaper wrote a small article featuring my camera and pictures.   I was contacted by a reader who offered me a used 35mm range finder camera.  This was the first real camera I owned.

Other than a few art classes in high school during the early 1970's I have no formal training.  I am strictly a self-taught amateur and by no means think of myself as anything but that.

I have always enjoyed making images. Over the years I have dabbled in oil paints and in recent years have taken up painting with watercolors. Having never studied the art of drawing only a few of my paintings are drawn freehand. Most of the paintings included on this site are either based on my photographs or are abstracts.
